Perfect squares are numbers such as 1 and 4 since 1%5E2+=+1 and 2%5E2=4

So we can factor 12 into 12=4%2A3

Notice how 4 is a factor.

So we can say...

sqrt%2812%29

sqrt%284%2A3%29

sqrt%284%29%2Asqrt%283%29 Use the idea that sqrt%28xy%29=sqrt%28x%29%2Asqrt%28y%29

2%2Asqrt%283%29


So sqrt%2812%29=2%2Asqrt%283%29

Extract the square root of those squares

Multiply now

factor to reveal a perfect square again, extract the square root of 9
10sqrt%289%2A2%29 = 3%2A10sqrt%282%29 = 30sqrt%282%29
