g(x+h) = 1-2(x+h) = 1 - 2x - 2h
g(x+h)-g(x) = (1 - 2x - 2h) - (1 - 2x)
Note the use of parentheses. When you substituting in more than one term, it is important to use parentheses. Simplifying we get:
g(x+h)-g(x) = (1 - 2x - 2h) - (1 - 2x) = -2h
