-8/7 will be negative, of course.
To find the decimal for a fraction, divide the numerator by the denominator. In this case that's 8 divided by 7.
In long division 7 goes into 8 once (the first digit of the quotient is 1). 8-7 = 1, add a decimal after 8, carry down a zero. Now it's 10.
7 goes into 10 on3 time (so far the quotient is 1.1). 10-7 = 3, carry down another zero, now it's 30.
7 goes into 30 4 times (so far the quotient is 1.14). 30-28=2. Carry down another zero, now it's 20.
7 goes into 20 two times. (So far the quotient is 1.142.) 20-14=6.
Keep this up because it's a repeating decimal -1.142857... (.142857 keeps repeating.)
The key is knowing to divide the top number by the bottom and remembering that it's negative.
