Question 308441: Please help me to figure this one out and more importantly understand it in laymens terms. Let f(x)=x to the second power + [x] Evaluate f(2), f(-2) I used substitution but this does not seem right. Found 2 solutions by stanbon, JBarnum:Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Please help me to figure this one out and more importantly understand it in laymens terms. Let f(x)=x^2 + [x]
-----
Evaluate f(2), f(-2) I used substitution but this does not seem right.
f(2) = 2^2+2 = 4+2 = 6
---
f(-2) = (-2)^2+(-2) = 4-2 = 2
