Question 255172: {(-2, 7), (-1, 5), (0, 3), (1, 1), (2, 1)} is this a function and if so why
Found 2 solutions by dabanfield, Edwin McCravy: Answer by dabanfield(803) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Remember, a function is a set of ordered pairs where there are not two pairs having the same x value but with different y values (for example {(1,2),(1,3)}.
This set of ordered pairs meets this requirement so it is a function.

It is a function because all the x-coordinates (first coordinates)
are different. It means that if they were plotted on a graph no
point is directly above or below any other point.
