Question 1106593: ``Line L, passes through points P(n, 4) and Q(1 2), Line L, passes through points R(4, 3) and S (1, 5). a) What is the value of n if the lines are parallel? b) If the lines are perpendicular, what is the value of n?''.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The way the description goes, you called both lines line "L", so they need to be the same line and each should have the same or equivalent equations. According to your description, points R, S, and Q need to all be on this same line.

Slope for RS:
%285-3%29%2F%281-4%29
2%2F%28-3%29
-2%2F3

Slope of RQ and of SQ should also be that same value, because "line L" given for both pairs of points.
Slope for RQ:
%283-2%29%2F%284-1%29
1%2F3

NOT the same slope, since -2%2F3%3C%3E1%2F3.

These can NOT both be line L.

Fix the problem description; maybe call one of the lines something other than "L".
