Question 433279: A home mortgage to finance $26,672. was offered at 9.5% for either 15 or 30 years. Assuming all payments are made on time and the loan is compounded monthly.
a) What is the total of all payments for the 15 year option? (Principle and Interest)
b) What is the total of all payments for the 30 year option? (Principle and Interest)
Does this look like I am calculating these correctly? A=P*(1+r/12)^(12)(t)
P=$26,672.
r=9.5% or .095
t=15 or 30
a) A=26,672*(1+.095/12)^(12)(15) b) A=26,672*(1+.095/12)^(12)(30)
26,672*(1+.095/12)^180 26,672*(1+.095/12)^(360)
26,672 * 4.134593305 26,672 * 17.0948618
A=$110,277.87 A=$455,954.15
If there is a better way to do this can you show me being sure to show all steps so I can understand.

Question 434346: Systems of Equations and Inequalities

Suppose you have a job at a restaurant that pays $12 per hour. You also work at a bookstore that pays $9 per hour. You want to earn at least $225 per week, but would like to work no more than 25 hours per week.
a. Write a system of linear inequalities that describes this situation.
b. Determine the solutions to the system. Explain what each solution to the system represents.

I was thinking that I need to have a problem equation something like this:
x+y=25
9x+12y=225
This is as far as I can get. Can you show me where I am going wrong and how to proceed.

Question 438977: Hello:
I have a problem I cannot seem to solve. I am hoping you can help me solve it or point me in the right direction. I am trying to solve the compound interest formula for the time variable; however my memory of log is very shady. What I need is:
given a starting dollar amount
a fixed monthly deposit
and a fixed interest rate
I want to know how long until the balance reaches X amount?

the original formula that solves for final balance is
B = A(1+i)^N + (P/i)[(1+i)^N − 1]

B = ending balance
A = starting balance
i = monthly rate
P = monthly deposits
n = how many months

thanks in advance!
