The CDC records predict the number of people infected with the HIV virus in Africa will increase from 2.5 million in 1980 to 7.1 million in 2020.
a)Using the form f(t)=y0b^t to model the data, where t=0 corresponds to 1980
b) What is the projected infected in 2010? 2015?
Here is what I have for part A:
Rate = 2.5 when t = 0 f(t) = 2.5b^t
F(40) = 7.1
2.5b^40 = 40 (divide each side by 2.5)
B^40 = 40 ^1/40
2.5
B = 40 ^1/40 ~ .93303
2.5
Function = f(t) = 2.5(.93303^t)

I am struggling with part b.
Thanks,
Holly
