Question 980923: In 4 weeks, Mark earns an average of $400 per week. If, after working another 2 weeks at a constant salary, his average earnings per week become $500 how much did he earn in the third week?
F. $33.33
G. $100.00
H. $600.00
J. $700.00
K. $900.00
Please explain this problem to me, I still don't get it! Thanks?
PS: I originally got J for this problem but I am starting to regret this because it is asking for the third week! Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source):
There is no way to know the exact amount that was earned in the third week. All you know is that for the first 4 weeks he earned a total of $1600 and that over the entire 6 weeks he earned $3000. Furthermore, since the last two weeks were constant, he must have earned $700 per week. But since there is no information that tells you how the salary was distributed across the first 4 weeks, all you can say for certain is . Hence, none of the answers given are any more or less correct than any of the others.
