Question 891670: On the first day of school, all of the incoming students attend an assembly. The principal of the school wants to know what students think of the assembly. She decides to ask the first 30 incoming students that she sees.
Could the principal's sampling method result in a biased sample? Explain your reasoning.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In order to generalize a result, you need to randomize your sampling.
Asking the first 30 is not random, it's convenient.
They may be the most diligent students who want to be first or they might be the ones closest to the auditorium.
It's unlikely that they'll be a random sampling of the student population so the results are likely to be biased.
