Question 842314: If the voltage V in an electric circuit is held constant, the current I is inversely proportional to the resistance R. If the current is 50 amperes when resistance is 240 ohms,find current when the resistance is 150 ohms. Answer by TheInstructor(29) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi!
This would fall under algebraic ratios:
Okay so your current ratio is 50:240 = 5:24
Now if you decrease your R (resistance) to 150ohms, you're effectively increasing your current A.
So 240/150 = 1.6
Now multiply 50 x 1.6 = 80 Amperes
To crosscheck with this, you can also use the V=IR formula (Physics)
V = 240. 50 = 12000V
12000= 150 . A
Therefore 12000/150 = 80Amperes
Hope this helped! :)
