rent=.30x
food=.25(x-90)
Peter spends 30% of his monthly income for rent and 25% for food. The amount spent for food is $90 less than the amount spent for rent. Find his monthly income. Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source):

.25x = .30x - 90
add 90 to both sides of =
.25x +90 = .30x
subtract .25x from both sides of =
.05x = 90
