Question 776808: Here is my problem.
The Cupcake Café makes 4 1/2 times as much revenue on doughnuts as muffins. If the total order were $44,000 for May, what dollar amount of each was sold?
I have tried this
9/2x=440000
2 x 2
2 x 44000 =88000
9/9 and 88000/9
x= 9777 r 7

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Here is my problem.
The Cupcake Café makes 4 1/2 times as much revenue on doughnuts as muffins. If the total order were $44,000 for May, what dollar amount of each was sold?
I have tried this
9/2x=440000
2 x 2
2 x 44000 =88000
9/9 and 88000/9
x= 9777 r 7

Let the revenue from the sale of muffins be M

Then the revenue from the sale of doughnuts is 4%261%2F2M, or %289%2F2%29M, or 9M%2F2

Since total revenue was $44,000, then: M+%2B+9M%2F2+=+44000

Solve this for M and that should give you the revenue from the sale of muffins. Then find the revenue from the sale of doughnuts, and then do a check to make sure your answers are correct.
