Question 490840: two boys start running straight toward each other from two point that are 100m apart.one runs with a speed of 5m/s while the other moves at 7m/s,how close are they to the slower one's starting point when they reach other?
Answer by ccs2011(207)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Distance = rate*time
Total distance covered by both boys must equal 100m
We need to find the time it takes for them to meet.
--> 5t + 7t = 100
--> 12t = 100
--> t = 8.33
Now find distance covered by boy running at 5 m/s
--> d = 5*(8.33)
--> d = 41.66
