Let the measure if the missing angle be A (This is the required variable)
You know that the sum of the angles in any triangle is 180 degrees.
You also know that the base angles of an isosceles triangle are congruent, so that the measure of two base angles would be 37 degrees each.
To find the vertex (third) angle (A), subtract the sum of the base angles (37+37) from 180. You can write the equation:
A = 180 - 2(37) This is the required equation. Simplify this.
A = 180 - 74
A = 106 degrees.
So the measures of the three angles are:
37 degrees
37 degrees
106 degrees.
And, of course, their sum is 180 degrees.
