Situation:
Married couple with one child and one on the way. Bob age 31, Sally age 30, son age 3, son due in November
Combined income 83k per year gross
•Bob- 401k with 18K, company match dollar for dollar up to 4%, currently contributing 8%
•Sally- 403B with 13K, company match .50 per dollar up to 6%, currently contributing 4%
•Bob started Roth IRA 5 years ago, 8k balance with no current contributions
•Purchased home 2 years ago, value 245k, owe 192k, payment $982 for principle and interest, total payment $1340 with tax and insurance, current interest rate 4.0%
•Bob has 1x salary life insurance via work (55K) and Sally has 75k 10 year term she bought before marriage (4 years to expiration)
•Bob has disability through work for 60% of salary, Sally has none
•Together, excluding home, they have 36k in debt (25k student debt at 5%, 6k on auto loan at 6.5%, and 5k in credit card debt at 12%)
•After normal bills (mortgage, payments, food, utilities, and necessities) they have a monthly cash flow of positive $900 per month and have cash reserves of $2,200 that is in a joint savings account earning .25% interest
•Payments on auto loan- $250, student loan- $250, and credit card- $50. All are minimum payments.
•Neither have completed any estate planning
•For the sake of making it somewhat easy- this is the list of funds within both 401k and 403B
