How much sugar is contained in this chocolate bar?

1.  Let x be the sum of money (the value under the problem's question, now unknown.

    Then 120% of the sum of money is  %28120%2F100%29%2Ax,  or  1.2x.


    So, you have this equation

        1.2x = 8400.


    Solve it by dividing both sides by 1.2.  You will get

           x = 8400%2F1.2 = 7000.


    ANSWER.  The sum of money is  R7000.




2.  This problem is even simpler than part (1) - - - because in this case you do not need solve any equation.

    The statement  "55% of Alice chocolate is sugar. The chocolate bar has a mass of 130g"  means that


        the amount of sugar is 0.55*130 = 71.5 grams.


    ANSWER.  The amount of sugar is 71.5 grams.
