If sin(A) = 0.96,  then  cos(A) = sqrt%281-sin%5E2%28A%29%29 = sqrt%281-0.96%5E2%29 = +/- 0.28.



If A is an obtuse angle, then cos(A) is negative, so its value is  -0.28.
