You can put this solution on YOUR website! .
Three partners Otieno , Ouma and Makotsi decide to start an export business together.
If Otieno contributes sh 20000 for 9 months, Ouma contributes sh 25000 for 6 months and Makotsi contributes sh 35000 for 4 months,
find their share in profits of sh 1310000.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Otieno's money contribution to the profit is proportional to the product (sh 20000 * 8 months) = 160000 (sh*month).
Ouma's money contribution to the profit is proportional to the product (sh 25000 * 6 months) = 150000 (sh*month).
Macotsi's money contribution to the profit is proportional to the product (sh 35000 * 4 months) = 140000 (sh*month).
( the proportionality coefficient is the "interest rate" , obviously ).
Therefore, according to the common sense, the total profit of sh 1310000 shoud be divided in proportion
160000 : 150000 : 140000 = 16 : 15 : 14.
The number of equal parts is 16 + 15 + 14 = 45.
The parts to share the profit for each participant are:
Otieno : sh ,
Ouma : sh ,
Makotsi : sh .
To get the numbers, use your calculator.
