You can put this solution on YOUR website!
normal speed of bus is 270mi/x where x is number of hours
speed of bus leaving at 6:30 and distance is 270 miles, so speed is 270/x-0.5.
(270/x)+6=270/(x-0.5)
(270+6x)/x=270/(x-0.5)
270x=270x-135+6x^2-3x
0=6x^2-3x-135
0=(x-5)(6x+27)
x=5 hours only positive root
54 mph is normal speed (270/5)

when the bus goes 60 mph, it takes 4.5 hours,

Let normal speed be S
Then faster speed is: S + 6
We then get the following TIME equation:
270S(2) + S(S + 6) = 270(2)(S + 6) ------- Multiplying by LCD, 2S(S + 6)

(S - 54)(S + 60) = 0
