Question 1164781: A six by eight grid is constructed with 48 small squares in a rectangle with a line diagonal from the top left to bottom right. The corners are marked A (top left), B (bottom left), C (bottom right) and D (top right). If the diagonal of one of the small squares is 6 Cm, what is the length of diagonal AC?
Thanks!

The other tutor didn't read the given information correctly.

The 6cm is the length of the diagonal of each small square -- not the side length.

So the side length of each square is 6%2Fsqrt%282%29=3%2Asqrt%282%29 cm.

Then the diagonal AC is the hypotenuse of a right triangle with legs 18%2Asqrt%282%29 cm and 24%2Asqrt%282%29 cm.
