Question 1122714: Vivek, ramesh, bhuvan divide a work amongst themselves in the ratio 2:3:5.Their rates of work are in the ratio 1:2:3.It takes vivek 12 days to complete his part. What is the amount of work completed by them in 8 days from the start? You can put this solution on YOUR website! If it takes V 12 days to do 2 pieces of work, in one day he does 2/12 and in 8 days 16/12 or 4/3.
R does it twice as fast or 1/3 in one day and 8/3 in 8 days.
B does it 3 times as fast as V or 1/2 per day or 4 pieces in 8 days.
After 8 days, they have completed 4/3 +8/3 + 4=8 pieces of work
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Vivek does of the work in days
His rate is
Ramesh’s rate is:
Bhuvan’s Rate is:
————————————-
Let = the fraction of the work done in 8 days
8/31 of the job gets done in 8 days
—————-
Definitely get a 2nd opinion on this ( if needed )
The entire job consists of 2 + 3 + 5 = 10 equal parts .
Vivek does of the work in 12 days ====>
His rate is = of the entire job per day.
Ramesh’s rate is:
= of the entire job per day.
Bhuvan’s rate is:
= of the entire job per day.
Till this point my solution coincides with that by @josmiceli.
Starting from the next line, my way is DIFFERENT.
Their combined rate of work is + + = = = of the entire job per day.
Hence, in 8 days they will complete = of the job.
