Question 1104918: A block of wood 1.8dm long, 1.2dm wide and 10cm thick is to be cut into small cubes of side 3cm in length. How many small cubes can be cut? Answer by greenestamps(13200) (Show Source):
1dm is 10cm, so the dimensions of the block in cm are 18x12x10.
You can get 6 full 3cm cubes along the 18cm length, and you can get 4 full 3cm cubes along the 12cm width. Along the 10cm thickness you can get 3 3cm cubes; but there will be some material wasted.
The total number of 3cm cubes you can get is then 6*4*3 = 72.
