$a decreased by 25% = 0.75a
1.2a decreased by 40% = 0.6*1.2a = 0.72a

I will disagree with one of the answers provided by the other tutor on this one....
(1) a decreased by 25% is agreed...
(2) 1.2a decreased by 40% is agreed...
(3) b increased by 250% = NOT 2.5b
(4) 2b increased by 50% = agreed...
The other tutor uses a completely different calculation for (3); instead of adding 2.5b to the original b, he incorrectly multiplies b times 2.5. That is not what an increase of 250% means; and it is not consistent with the calculations he did for the other three cases.
