Question 1083535: A worker times 1 1/2 times the regular wage for overtime. In one week the workers total income was $625 for 35 hours of regular work plus 10 hours of overtime. What is the regular hourly wage? I have stated that x=regular hourly wage and also the following:
625=35x+10(3/2)x
625=35x+16x
625=51x
And then the answer I keep getting doesn't match the answer in my text book, which is $12.50
Please help asap. Thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Should be
625=35x+15x
625/50=x
x=$12.50

625=35x+10(3/2)x <======== You're correct up to this point
625=35x+16x This is WRONG! 10%283%2F2%29x DOES NOT GIVE you 16x, but 15x, instead. This is your ERROR!
Obviously, everything else after this will BE INCORRECT.
