Question 983201: 2x+y=50 3x+2y=2x-y
I have no idea where to start so I can cancel a variable out because the second problem doesn't have a number without a variable. My teacher never taught us how to do problems like these, help please?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What number without a variable? Why is this trouble?

System of Two Equations.
Simplify either or both equations, and choose your method for solving the system.

Your given system: system%282x%2By=50%2C3x%2B2y=2x-y%29

system%282x%2By=50%2C3x%2B2y-2x%2By=2x-y-2x%2By%29

system%282x%2By=50%2Cx%2B3y=0%29

Choosing Substitution Method:
system%28y=50-2x%2Cx%2B3y=0%29

x%2B3%2850-2x%29=0
x%2B150-6x=0
-5x%2B150=0
150=5x
highlight%28x=30%29

Use this substituted in the formula for y.
y=50-2x
y=50-3%2A30
y=50-90
highlight%28y=-40%29
