subtrach 1/2 from each side
-5/8x = 7/8x + 6/2
subtract 7/8x from each side
-12/8x = 6/2
Divide by -12/8 (multiply by reciprocal)
x = 6/2 * -8/12
x = - 48/24
simplfy
x = -2
