Question 344359: I need help solving the following problems using substitution AND elimination.
1. -2x+3y= 14
x+2y=7
2. 5x-3y= -11
x-2y=2
3.x-y=3
6x+4y=13
If you've noticed the 2d equation comes in standard form ( x+ y=b). So how do I get the answer. Please help, I just really want to understand this.
Thank you. Your help is appreciated.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I'll do one, you do the next two.
1. -2x%2B3y=+14
2.x%2B2y=7+
Multiply eq. 2 by 2 and add to eq. 1 to eliminate x.
-2x%2B3y%2B2x%2B4y=14%2B2%287%29
7y=28
highlight%28y=4%29
Now use either equation to solve for y.
x%2B2%284%29=7
x%2B8=7
highlight%28x=-1%29

.
Next system, multiply the second equation by (-5) and add them together to eliminate x.

.
Last system, multiply the first equation by (4) add add them together to eliminate y.
