You can put this solution on YOUR website!
we are given
(i) x=y%2B4
(ii) -x%2B2y=7
step 1 - where you see x in (ii) put the x stuff from (i) to get
(iii) -%28y%2B4%29+%2B+2y+=+7
step 2 - solve for y.
combine like terms on the left to get
(iv) y+-+4+=+7
add 4 to get
(v) y+=+11
Since y = 11, we can find x as
x+=+15
So, our answer is (x,y) = (15,11).

ned help on algebra involving substitution x=y+4
-x+2y=7
1.) x = y + 4
2.) -x + 2y = 7
Substitute y + 4 for x from equation 1.) in equation 2.):
-(y + 4) + 2y = 7
-y - 4 + 2y = 7
Solve the above for y then calculate x from 1.) as y + 4
