A=1/2bh
Solve for h.
.
The idea is to isolate the variable 'h' to one side of the equation -- doesn't matter which side.
.
Starting with:
A=1/2bh
.
Let's start by moving the 'b'. Since 'b' is being "multiplied" to 'h', to move it, do the opposite operation -- "divide" BOTH sides by 'b' to get:
A/b = [1/2bh]/b
The 'b's cancel on the right leaving:
A/b = 1/2h
.
Finally, to move the 1/2 -- multiply both sides by it's reciprocal -- 2/1:
(2/1)[A/b] = (2/1)[1/2h]
On the left we get:
2A/b = (2/1)[1/2h]
On the right the 2s and the 1s cancel leaving:
2A/b = h
That's it, you're done.
.
The equation now says, that the height 'h' is equal to two times the area 'A' divided by the base 'b'.
