Question 133631: Hello, I appreciate everyone help these last couple days as I get ready to take a math assessment. I haven't done this stuff in years! I just discovered this site :) wish I had known about it a long time ago lol. Okay here is probably my last question till I get assessed...can someone please explain how to solve this and the rules behind this radical expression. Given: x and y are greater than zero. Here it is the square root of x divided by 3 times the square root of x minus the square root of y. Does that make sense?

Question 133822: Simplifying Expressions:
Simplify, if possible. Write your answers as a power or as a product of powers.
5^3 x (5a^4)^2
The answer I got was 5^5a^8
I don't think that I'm doing it right though.
Could you please explain the steps I should be taking?

Question 133805: Simplifying Expressions:
Simplify, if possible. Write your answer as a power or as a product of powers.
(-2xy)^3 (-x^2)
I'm getting confused on how far to go, and do you combine both of the problems in the quotations?
Or Is the 2x^3y^3-x^2 that I got as an anwer correct, or even close to the right direction?

Question 134371: Question: 0.6=0.88^x
How do I find x and can it be done on a calculator?
I found the answer by 0.6 divided by 0.88 and counted the number of reps till I got the answer 1 (or close to), but there must be a better way.

Question 134588: Dear Tutor
Could you please help me with this investigation question from an old Maths Textbook?
Please solve this inequation:
The book only gives the answer: . I tried to use "log" or "cube roots" to find out x but it seemed neither of them helped. Therefore, could you please show me how do you get ? Thank you in advance. :-)

Question 135337: Can someone point me to the right direction with this problem?
Use a combination of rules and exponents to simplify each expression.
y to the negative 8 power times y to the 5 power times y to the negative 2 power.
So far I come up with y to the neg. 8 power over 1 = 1 over y to the 8 power. Does it just become positive y to the 8 so you can begin to times it by the y to the 5 power and so forth? I would like to know if I am doing the problem right.
Anyones response greatly appreciated.
