Question 623648: Not sure if this is right place to ask this question:
The problem had a step in it:
First rewrite the value of f(x) in exponential form, with base 8.
f(x)=1/512 = 1/8^3 = 8^-3
I understand that 8^3 equals 1/512, just not what steps they took. Is there an easy way to figure out the exponential form of a number? Also, why did the exponent become negative at the end step?
Thank you.

Question 623732: Simplify the expression using the properties of exponents.
(3^3 m^2 n/n^3)^-1
I didn't know how to write this question. It's suppose to be read as: (Three to the 3rd, m to the 2nd, n.. OVER.. n to the 3rd)times the power of -1

Question 625528: I must type this as exponential notation with positive exponents, but I thought that was something like this (Example 8.72 * 10^7)
The problem I must solve ended up to be a fraction for me with no exponents at all. Help!
(25x^2)/(3x^2-18x+27)*(3x-9)/(5x)
The answer I came up with was (5x)/(x-3)
Am I right or did I miss something?

Question 629337: Dear tutor, I was wondering if you could show me how to solve these equations. Although I need to write the expression without a fraction bar.
5/t^4 -- I have tried and wrote this as 5t^4
6z/y^5 -- I also wrote this like 6zy^5
I am unsure if that was right or not and if wrong please explain.
Thank you for your time.

Question 629354: Dear tutor I was wondering on how to find the quotient of my problem but by only using positive exponents.
18a^-20/8a^9
I am very unsure on what steps to take to solve it.
Also I need help on this:
(w^3)(y^13)/(w^11)(y^6)
Thank you and I hope that you can help.

Question 629636: If (3^5x)(27^5x)=(3^48)(9^9x), then what is the value of x?
I tried to solve for x as a regular equation and got stuck when x was isolated on one side as an exponent.....(3^5x)(27^5x)=(3^48)(9^8x)
81^10x=(3^48)(9^8x)
9^2x=(3^48)
Also tried....
10x=48+8x
2x=48
x=24
the answer is 12
Thank you

Question 629713: I need help on this problem, I'm not sure if I have the steps right or if I'm doing something wrong. Any help is appreciated. :)
"evaluate the expression"
5^0 + 8^1
5^0 is always a 1 so 1 + 8^1
then i make the 8^1 a fraction I think?
1 + 8^1/1
then i multiply so is the answer 1 64/1 ?
Is that true or false.

Question 629745: I have alot of trouble with these type of problems
"simplify, write your answer using only positive exponents"
5^4 y^7
_______
5^6 y^3
do i work out each exponent with the whole numbers individually and then multiply them with each other?

Question 630387: A street that is 264m long is covered in snow. City workers are using a snow plow to clear the street. A tire on the snowplow has to turn 44 times in traveling the length of the street. What is the diameter of the tire? Use the value 3.14 for pi. Round your answer to the nearest tenth. Do not round any intermediate steps.
