Question 43526: Can you tell me if I have simplified this equation correctly?
(9y^2/(x^-8*y^0))^1/2
I first found that y^0 = 1. So that would drop out of the equation.
Then I thought that raising to the 1/2 is the same as taking the square root of the equation.
So I now have the square root of 9y^2 / square root of x^-8.
The square root of 9y^2 is 3y. So I now have 3y/square root of x^-8.
I think that a negative exponent is the reciprocal of the positive so I now have 3y * square root of x^8. And x^8 is x^4 * x^4. So if I take the square root of x^4 is x^2. So I ended up with 3y*2x^2. Is that right?

Question 43832: Please help me. The instructions are: simplify each expression. Assume that all variables represent positive numbers. Write with only positive exponents.
(a) to the 1/3 power, (a) to the 4/3 power, (a) to the 1/2 power.
First I wrote them all in Radical Form and tried to find the cube root of each of them, but I don't understand what to do.
Thanks so much!

Question 43835: Please help me. The instructions are: Simplify each expression. Assume that all variables represent positive numbers. Write with only positive exponents. Here is the problem.
^1/3
I wrote this problem as a Radical Function but I don't know what to do after that.
Thanks so much.

Question 43836: Please help me. The instructions are: Use rational exponents to write each radical with the same index. Then multiply. Here is the problem.
The cube root of 2, times the square root of 7.
I don't know how to get the index's the same.
Thanks so much.

Question 43939: I have three problems that I am having trouble solving I hope that is okay. Here they are with what work I have done.
simplify: (3x^4)^2(4x^-5)^-1/12x^-6 = (3x^4) (3x^4)=9x^8
9x^8 * 4x^-6/12x^-6
simplify 4th root of (x^5 divided by 16y^15)
simplify: (x^1/4y^1/2)^2(x^2y^3)^1/2
thank you so much

Question 34674: Whenever a problem contains fractions, present your answer in fractional form; reduce to lowest terms, but do not change improper fractions to mixed numbers. No answers are to be expressed as mixed numbers. All fractional coefficients and any multi-term numerators/denominators must be enclosed in parentheses. Assume that all variables in any denominator are nonzero. Express all answers with positive exponents only; evaluate exponents when possible.

Question 46287: 2x^2y(x + y^3 + z^5)
In this type of operation, do you do the part in ( ) first? How would this be done to know what x,y, and z are if you do that part first? Is y going to be the same number on the inside as well as the outside of the ( )? Can you show me how to simplify and show the work please? I am not a genius at Algebra, so please if you have time to show me step-by-step? THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
