Question 246704: for all x > or equal to y > or equal to, the sqaure root of 250x9y4
The computer program i am using for compass practice says to find the square root of x9 which is x4 times the square root of x. they then say that it is equal to 5x4 times y4 times the square root of 10x. why is this so? I don't understand why they are equal....

Question 248007: Working on this problem and don't know how to approach it -
Use the given conditions and the table below to find C, a, and f(x) = Ca^x
Given: f(1) = 18 and f(2) = 9
x | -1 | 0 | 1 | 2
---+----+----+----+----
y | | | |
Plugging in the givens I get this -
x | -1 | 0 | 1 | 2
---+----+----+----+----
y | | | 18 | 9
but don't know where to go from there.

Question 248660: What is the solution for 8w/exponent or power of 2x+1=4w/exponent or power of 1-x? I've tried dividing the whole numbers by 4 first and I get -1/3, multiplying both sides of the exponents out first and then solving it and I get -3/5, and subtracting the exponents first which gave me 1/6, none of which get me the correct answer of -1/8. Yesterday I somehow got -1/4 for the answer but I forget how. I'm studying for the ACT.

Question 249192: Hello,
Can someone help me with these, I have some of the graphs but I not able to post them to this screen, and the last two problem I stuck on them since yesterday. Please help me
1. Evaluate the exponential equation for three positive values of x, three negative values of x, and at x=0. Use the resulting pairs to plot the graph. State the equation of the line asymptotic to the graph. .
I have a graph but I not sure that it is right and it will not post to this screen.
2. evaluate the logarithmic equation for three values of x that are greater than 1, three values of x that are between 0 and 1, and at x=1. Use the resulting ordered pairs to plot the graph. State the equation of the line asymptotic to the graph.
Again I have the graph but I not sure if it is right and I can not post it to this screen
3. solve; the number of dislocated impulses per cubic inch in a transformer increases when lightning strikes by D=1900(2)^x, where x is the time in milliseconds fo the lightning strike. Find the number of dislocated impulses at x=0 and x=4
4. how long will it take for the population of a certain country to triple if its annual growth rate is 2.8%?(round to the nearest year). Use the exponential growth model P(t)=P0e^kt
Thank you,
Tammy

Question 251086: The Schwarzschild radius describes the critical value to which the radius of a massive body must be reduced for it to become a black hole.
R = 2GM/c^2
G= gravitational constant 6.7x10^-11
M= mass of object
C= speed of light 3x10^8
The sun has M=2x10^30. What is the Schwarzschild radius for the sun? (Note its true radius is 700,000)
I have worked and reworked this problem and just cannot come up with the right answer. Please help.Inserting the values for the sun into thi

Question 252151: The assignment is as follows:
Look at the expressions below. Write a narrative description of what you would do to simplify each one.
1. (16)^(1/2)
2. √100
I struggle with these kind of assignments. I’m not sure how to interpret the assignment. My first thought is the answer is simply “I would calculate the square root of each number”. That is what I “would” do to simplify each one. Does anyone have any thoughts on what the instructor is looking for? Thanks!
