Question 375918: Hi there, I'm being asked to evaluate the following:
%28-1%29%5E%28k%2B1%29%2Ak for k = 1 through k = 4
I plugged 1 through 4 into the equation and ended up with this equation:
x%5E3+-+2x%5E2+%2B+3x+-+4
I'm just checking myself, this is new to me but seems relatively simple. Thanks for your help and have a great holiday!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What does that mean, 1 thru 4? Integers only?
Or the value at 4 minus the value at 1 ?
Where did you get an x ?

Am I missing something here?
How did you start with %28%28-1%29%5Ek%2B1%29%2Ak (no x's) and end up with x%5E3-2x%5E2%2B3x-4
Have you mixed up two different problems?
Anyway, back to the original question:
Evaluate %28%28-1%29%5E%28k%2B1%29%2Ak%29 for k = 1 through 4.
Start with k=1.
%28%28-1%29%5E%281%2B1%29%2A1%29+=+%28%28-1%29%5E2%29%2A%281%29=1%2A1+=+1
Now k=2.
%28%28-1%29%5E%282%2B1%29%29%2A%282%29+=+%28%28-1%29%5E3%29%2A%282%29=%28-1%29%2A2+=+-2
Now you should be able to finish this by following the examples above.
Good luck!
