You can put this solution on YOUR website!
what is the degree of (7x to the 12th power y to the 3rd plus 9x to the sixth y to the third) and why?
7x%5E12y%5E3%2B9x%5E6y%5E3

The degree of a polynomial is the largest number of letters you can find
multiplied together in any term of the polynomial:

7x%5E12y%5E3%2B9x%5E6y%5E3%22%22=%22%22

The longest string of letters multiplied together is

x%2Ax%2Ax%2Ax%2Ax%2Ax%2Ax%2Ax%2Ax%2Ax%2Ax%2Ax%2Ay%2Ay%2Ay

and that's 15, so the degree of 7x%5E12y%5E3%2B9x%5E6y%5E3 is 15.

You don't have to string out the letters as I did above. All
you have to do is add up the exponents of the letters in each term.
12+3=15 in the first term and 6+3=9 in the second term. 15 is
the largest, so the the degree is 15.
