Question 242701: Hello Everyone, I need some assistance in helping me solve some algebra problems, I am so confused. I need someone to please explain to me step by step how to do these problems:
These are fractions with exponents sorta like an equation: (there are six questions total).
1)(4/3)^-2
2) w^-4/w^6
3) (2s-1t3/6s^2t^-4)^-3
4)9.3 multiplied by 10^-5
5) 8 multiplied by 10^6
6) 9 multiplied by 10^-4 (this is over (fraction)3 multiplied by 10^-6

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1)(4/3)^-2
The negative sign means "invert",
The 2 means "square"
----------------------
You get:
After inverting: (3/4)^2
After squaring: 9/16
================================
2) w^-4/w^6
= 1/(w^4*w^6)
= 1/w^10
===================================
3) (2s-1t3/6s^2t^-4)^-3
Question: Is that numerator 2s^(-1)t^(3) or something else?
-----------------------------------
4)9.3 multiplied by 10^-5
Multiplying by 10^-5 moves the decimal point 5 places to the left:
Ans: 0.000093
===================================
5) 8 multiplied by 10^6
Multiplying by 10^6 moves the decimal point 6 places to the right:
Ans: 8,000,000
====================================
6) 9 multiplied by 10^-4 (this is over (fraction)3 multiplied by 10^-6
---
[9 x 10^-4]/[3 x 10^-6]
= [9/3][10^-4/10^-6]
= 3
= 3
= 300
===============
