You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I am trying to solve a Algebraic fraction problem. How to find the value of y in the equation
3%2Fy-2=8

Step 1. Multiply y to both sides of the equation to get rid of denominator.

y%2A%283%2Fy-2%29=8%2Ay

3-2y=8y

Step 2. Add 2y to both sides of the equation to get variables on the right side and the numbers on the left side.

3-2y%2B2y=8y%2B2y

3=10y

Step 3. Divide 10 to both sides of the equation.

3%2F10=10y%2F10

y=3%2F10

Step 4. Check by substitution of y=3%2F10 into 3%2Fy-2=8.

3%2F%283%2F10%29-2=8 which is a true statement.

Step 5. ANSWER is 3%2F10=0.3

I hope the above steps were helpful.
