Question 133297: Hi all
I have a couple of easy ones for you, but I need to know if I have got them correct for my methodology. Would you please be so kind and have a look at these for me. Thank you.
I am asked to simplify the following:
Q1/ x-x^-1 and also Q2/ (x+x^-1)^-1
I have
Q1/ x-1/x and also Q2/ 1/(x+1/x)
Am I on the right track?
Thank you so very much.
Cheers D

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
D it is really hard to know what the original equations are. Please add in parens to make it clear.
If the first one is %28Q1%29%2F%28x+-+x%5E-1%29 than that is a different problem than %28%28Q1%29%2Fx%29+-+x%5E-1
I suspect the problem is %28Q1%29%2F%28x+-+x%5E-1%29
If so, let's solve that one
%28Q1%29%2F%28x+-+x%5E-1%29
%28Q1%29%2F%28%28x%5E2+-+1%29%2Fx%29
%28%28Q1%29x%29%2F%28x%5E2+-1%29+
In any case, the method to use it this:
Find a common denominator for everything that is in the original denominator. Then simply.
