Question 88323: Hello,
I'm having a bit of a difficult time figuring out if I have done this problem correctly, and would greatly appreciate if someone could tell me if I've solved it correctly or if I am way off track, and show me what I need to do.
Here is the original problem that I have to solve: 9/(x-5) - 1 = 8/(x+5).
Here's the solution that I've come to: First, I moved 8/x+5 to the left, so that the equation read like this: 9/x-5 -1 -8/x+5 = 0. Then, I moved -1 to the right of the equation, so that it read like this: 9/x-5 - 8/x+5 -1 =0, which I think is the solution to the problem, right? Is there further solving or simplifying involved that I'm overlooking or is my solution correct?
Thank you very, very much in advance for your help!

Question 92608: Simplify using only positive exponents.
-5(3/2)(4-9x)^-.5(-9)
I multiplied -5 times 3/2 and got -15/2, then multiplied this by -9 and got 135/2. So now I have 135/2 times the square root of (4-9x)^-1. Would this simplify to the square root of 1/(4-9x)? If I did this, what would that square root simplify to? I'm not sure if I've done this right so far, and don't know where to go from here.

Question 95097: I really need help with this....PLEASE, PLEASE
2^8 times 2^-11
For this I just added the exponents and I got
2 to the negative 3rd power.
Because I have 2 to the 8th power, times 2 to the negative 11th power, I just added the exponents of 8+(-11) and I got the answer of 2 to the negative 3rd power. Is this right?
PLEASE HELP ME. I don't understand this question
