Question 948867: 4) An airplane at 20,000 feet begins to descend at 22 feet per second. Let x represent the number of seconds and y represent the altitude in feet of the plane. The plane descends for 2.5 minutes and then climbs for 5 minutes at 15 feet per second. Which of the following is true concerning the slopes made by the plane's flight?
A The descent at 22 feet per second is steeper than the climb at 15 feet per second because the plane descends at a faster rate than that at which it climbs.
B. The descent at 22 feet per second is less than the climb at 15 feet per second because the slope representing the descent is negative.
C. The climb at 15 feet persecond is steeper than thedescent at 22 feet per second because the climb isrepresented by a positiveslope.
D The 5-minute climb is steeper because 5 minutes is longer than the descent time of 2.5 minutes.

Question 952933: I am having a problem simplifying using the Rules of Exponents because of the negative exponent. I know I have to find the reciprocal but I get lost there.
this is my problem:
27^-2/3 / 27^-1/3
I am not sure if I have to cube it first which I believe it will give me....cube root of 27 and then square it: 27^2/3 = (27^1/3)^2 = 3^2 = 9
I appreciate any help....

Question 954516: If 8^n=27, what is 4^n?
I have worked out that 8^n/4^n=2^n, so the answer is 27/2^n, but the answers provided are: 3, 4, 9, 13.5, there is no such n. I have calculated on my calculator that n is 1.584, but cannot see how to do that without a calculator.
Thanks
Paul
