Question 932677: Please help with the following:
(16b^-2)^-1/2 Solution: b/4
When I work this problem, I get 4b.
(16b^-2)^-1/2
= (16/b^2)^-1/2
= (16)^-1/2 / (b^2)^-1/2
= 1/4 / 1/b
= 4b
Where am I going wrong? Thanks!

Question 932674: Please explain why
-4^0 = -1
but
(-5)^0 = 1.
I can justify why the latter is true, but the former gives me trouble. I could see why -(4)^0 or -(4^0) = -1, but not how as it is written above would be -1.
Thanks in advance.

Question 940358: I need to simplify (27a^12)^-4/3
Then it becomes 27•27^-1/4•a^-9 but that's as far as I can go with the 27. The a since the exponent is negative goes in the denominator and the exponent is then changed to a positive for a 1/a^9 but I am not sure with to do with the 27^-1/4 after this step.
