Question 624205: Can you help me solve this problem please?
In () I have the following fraction, ((12x^-3)(z^4)/3xz^-4)^-3
If it were a word problem I would read it as, open parentheses, twelve x to the negative three power, z to the fourth power, divided by three x z to the negative four power, close parentheses to the negative three power.
I'm unsure how to start the problem. Can I cancel the 12x^-3 and 3x^2? Or do I have to immediately move the 12x^-3 to the denominator because its a negative exponent?

Question 637251: How do you solve 2^5/2 - 2^3/2? The fractions are fractional exponents (not mixed numbers). The answer is supposed to be 2^3/2 according to the answer key. I've seen this problem solved on this website elsewhere but for some reason the experts keep treating these fractions as mixed numbers. Please treat the fractions as exponents. Thank you!
