Question 32988: I am getting confused with negative signs. I've worked this problem several times but keep getting +3, but the answer is supposed to be 1/3. What am I doing wrong? Rebecca

I used distributive property for the -4, multiplying it by both the x and the -2. ??????

I've tried this several times and keep getting -6x^2/y^2 but the answer is supposed to be -6x^2y^-2
Why does Saxon bring the y^2 up and make it a negative exponent?

Question 34605: I've worked this and get 89/36 but answer is supposed to be 71/36...???
Problem: -(-2)-(-2^-2)-[(-2)(3^-2)]
I get 2 +1/4 - (-2/9)
2 * 1/4 + 2/9
72/36 + 9/36 + 8/36 = 89/36
Where did I go wrong?
