You can put this solution on YOUR website!
When you see "minus a negative number" you write it as
"plus a positive number".  So when you see -(-4) you
rewrite it as +(+4) or just + 4

-3 - 5 - (-4)

then you rewrite that as:

-3 - 5 + 4

Combine -3 and -5 as -8.  Then you rewrite that as

-8 + 4

Then you combine those and get

 -4
