Question 1175031: A population of beetles are growing according to a linear growth model. The initial population (week 0) is Po =3, and the population after 5 weeks is P5 =23.

.

Arithmetic progression with the first term of 3.

The common difference is  %2823-3%29%2F5 = 20%2F5 = 4.

4 beetles are added each week.

The general formula after n weeks is

    Pn = 3 + 4n.

It will reach  99 when

    Pn = 99 = 3 + 4n

         99 - 3 = 4n

         96     = 4n

          n     = 96/4 = 24.     ANSWER

Solved.
