Question 1000031: (My question is based around solving linear equations by substitution)
y=-1/2x-4
y=4x-13

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y = -1/2x-4,
y = 4x-13.

Since left sides are identical, you can equalize right sides. It gives

-1%2F2x - 4 = 4x - 13.

Thus you have single equation for the unknown x.

Solve it.

Then substitute the found value of x into either of the original equations and calculate y.

Comment from student: Thank you! I got x= 2, but for y I got -10.5, the answer says y= 5... do I just reduce? how do I make it positive?

Response: x = 2, y = -5.
