Question 823406: The population of a town is increasing at a rate of 6.2% per year. The city council believes they will have to add another elementary school when the population reaches 100 000. If there are currently 76 000 people living in the town, how long do they have before the new school will be needed?
I can't remember what equation to sub it into, but the textbook answer is 4.6 years.

Question 824924: I am doing a LOG graph and have found the one point and the vertical asymptote but need to find the x-intercept.
The problem is...
f(x)= log(x-1)-2
I have the vertical shift at down 2 and the horizontal shift at right one. The vertical asymptote is 1 and the point is (2,-2)

Here is my guess on how to do it you take the question and change it to =5x which turns to 25=5x then divide by 5 which makes the answer 5. however I was unsure because I remember something in class about canceling out the log base 5. Thanks a bunch!
