But I think probably you were just supposed to write the given expression as a single logarithm; I doubt if you were expected to get a decimal approximation.

If the writer is just using your answer without understanding where it came from, then you are doing him a disservice because he has not learned anything.
If the writer actually wanted to learn how to solve the problem, then you are doing a him a disservice because he then has to resubmit his question.
