You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The easiest way to do this one is to make this an equation by setting it equal to zero to get:
.
x%5E3+-+125+=+0
.
Then add 125 to both sides to get:
.
x%5E3+=+125
.
Then take the cube root of both sides. Note that the cube root of 125 is 5 because 5*5*5 = 125.
.
And the cube root of x%5E3 is just x. So the solution is just:
.
x+=+5
.
Subtract 5 from both sides to get:
.
x-5=0
.
This tells you that a factor is x-5. Divide this factor into x%5E3+-+125 and you
find that the quotient is x%5E2+%2B+5x+%2B+25
.
This does not factor further into real numbers. At this stopping point, the answer to
your factoring problem is that it factors into %28x-5%29%2A%28x%5E2+%2B+5x+%2B+25%29
.
If you are into complex numbers, you can use the same technique to factor %28x%5E2+%2B+5x+%2B+25%29
Set it equal to zero and apply the quadratic formula to get that the answers are:
.
x+=+-%285%2F2%29%2B-i%2A%28%285%2Asqrt%283%29%29%2F2%29
.
These convert into factors of:
.
%28x+%2B%285%2F2%29%2Bi%2A%285%2Asqrt%283%29%2F2%29%29 and %28x+%2B%285%2F2%29-+i%2A%285%2Asqrt%283%29%2F2%29%29
.
As a result this makes your three factors of x%5E3+-+125 equal:
.

.
This is tricky to understand so I hope it hasn't overwhelmed you. Give me a response to

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let's look at the general case, how to factor a%5E3-b%5E3.
By the binomial theorem, %28a-b%29%5E3+=+a%5E3-3a%5E2b%2B3ab%5E2-b%5E3.
So, a%5E3+-+b%5E3+=+%28a-b%29%5E3+%2B+3a%5E2b+-+3ab%5E2.
Or, .
So, for the problem at hand we substitute a=x and b=5 and we get
highlight%28x%5E3+-+5%5E3+=+%28x-5%29%28x%5E2%2B5x%2B25%29%29.
